In recognition of Fair Housing Month, the Memphis Area Association of Realtors will present the fifth annual Fair & Affordable Housing event on Wednesday.

Chandler Reports, a division of The Daily News Publishing Co. Inc., is hosting a free foreclosure seminar Wednesday in an effort to educate more people about its foreclosure reports and how real estate agents can effectively use the data to assist their clients.

24. Cohen to Address the State of Housing Monday -

The Memphis Chapter of National Association of Real Estate Brokers will present a panel discussion on the “State of Housing” Monday.

U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Memphis, will kick off the discussion, followed by an panel covering an array of subjects from legislative acts to mortgages to state-funded programs that stop foreclosure proceedings.

25. Youth Villages 5K Slated for Saturday -

Youth Villages will hold its 29th annual YV5K at 9 a.m. Saturday at 1000 Ridgeway Loop, at the intersection of Briarcrest Avenue and the Ridgeway Loop in the Marsh Building.
The Memphis Area Association of Realtors is in its 29th year as a sponsor of the event.
“It’s a great cause and it promises to be a good time, too,” MAAR President Leon Dickson said in a statement. “We at MAAR appreciate the important service that Youth Villages provides for this community.”
Funds raised from the event will benefit Youth Villages’ mentoring, transitional living and spiritual life programs.
Runners and walkers can pre-register online through Wednesday at www.youthvillages5k.org, and packets can be picked up Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at MAAR, 6393 Poplar Ave. Registration also will be available on Friday and on the day of the event from 7 to 8 a.m.

Andy Raines graduated from law school at then-Memphis State University in 1980, the same year Shelby County held its first property reappraisal in nearly two decades.
