1. Apperson Crump Expands in Triad III -

Memphis’ oldest continuously practicing law firm is expanding its presence in Triad III.

Apperson Crump PLC added 2,037 square feet to its seventh floor space in a vacant adjacent area between Silverleafe Capital Partners LLC.

2. Evolve Bank ‘Hitting on All Cylinders’ -

Scott Stafford, president and CEO of Evolve Bank and Trust, said his bank is forecasting a strong second half of the year, and it’s not hard to see where that optimism comes from.

3. Borod & Kramer Becomes Part of Apperson Crump -

The 97-year-old Memphis law firm of Borod & Kramer PLC is closing its doors.

The firm will leave its Downtown office in Brinkley Plaza and move its attorneys and staff to 6070 Poplar Ave., where they’ll become part of Apperson Crump PLC.

4. Evolve Bank & Trust Announces Additions -

Marty Ferguson has joined Evolve Bank & Trust as CEO of the bank’s Small Business Administration Division.

5. CRE Activity Stays Strong During 2011 -

Despite hard times, local commercial real estate firms were able to ink plenty of deals in the past 12 months.

Memphis’ industrial leasing activity kicked off in January when Buena Park, Calif.-based Pacific Logistics Corp. signed a 60,000-square-foot lease in ProLogis Park DeSoto for its first Memphis-area location.

Highwoods Properties Inc. is about two weeks away from completing more than $1 million in parking lot renovations and building improvements at the East Memphis office complex Triad Centre, bringing its three developments into a cohesive, campus-style environment.

7. Evolve Bank Moving Into Triad Centre III -

Evolve Bank & Trust is preparing to move into a new branch location next month at 6070 Poplar Ave. in the Triad Centre III office building.

8. $20M in Improvements on Tap for One Commerce -

Plans for $20 million worth of tenant improvements are coming right along at One Commerce Square.

Commercial Advisors LLC held a tenant meeting and appreciation lunch Thursday, Aug. 11 in the historic bank lobby, 40 S. Main St. The event was led by Gary Prosterman, president and CEO of Development Services Group and one of the partners in Memphis Commerce Square Partners LLC, the new ownership group of One Commerce.

9. Highwoods Properties’ Q2 Funds Down to $45.8 Million -

Highwoods Properties Inc.’s second-quarter funds from operations was $45.8 million – down from $48.7 million during the same period last year – the company announced Thursday, July 28, in its second-quarter earnings conference call.

10. Dollar General Building Store On Jackson In N. Memphis -

Plans for a new Dollar General store in the city’s North submarket are under way. Ware Properties LLC purchased 9,100 square feet of vacant land at 3433 Jackson Ave. from Hector Tejeda in May for $140,000, according to the Shelby County Register of Deeds. The Shelby County Assessor of Property’s 2011 appraisal of the parcel was $109,200.

11. Highwoods to Receive LEED Gold Plaque -

Highwoods Properties Inc. will be presented Monday, June 6, with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold plaque for Memphis’ first multi-tenant LEED-certified building, Triad Center III, 6070 Poplar Ave.

12. Apperson Crump Continues Legacy With Growth -

These days, there’s a lot that’s new at the city’s oldest continuously operating law firm.

Developments within the past few weeks at Apperson Crump, a venerable firm founded the same year the U.S. Civil War ended, include new attorney hires, the acquisition of another law firm and the development of an affiliation for referral work with yet another firm.

13. Apperson Crump Acquires Smith-Kimbrough & Assoc. -

Apperson Crump PLC – the oldest continuously operating law firm in Memphis – has announced its acquisition of Smith-Kimbrough & Associates PC.

Cecil Smith, founder of Smith-Kimbrough & Associates, will become a partner at Apperson Crump, and in turn, Apperson Crump will inherit Smith-Kimbrough’s offices in Nashville and Oxford, Miss.

14. Deal 'Huge' For Office Real Estate Market -

The lease that sent Glankler Brown PLLC from Downtown to East Memphis was one of the most significant commercial real estate deals inked all year, even in a city known for its abundance of large industrial transactions.

15. Three Attorneys Break Away From Apperson Crump -

A managing partner of Apperson Crump & Maxwell PLC has left the law firm to start his own firm.

Robert L. Dinkelspiel opened Dinkelspiel, Rasmussen & Mink Monday at 1669 Kirby Parkway. His partners are Robin H. Rasmussen and M. Wayne Mink Jr., both of whom worked at Apperson Crump.

16. Apperson Crump, Gary K. Smith to Merge -

Two Memphis law firms are planning to merge their practices effective Friday.

Apperson, Crump & Maxwell PLC and Gary K. Smith & Associates PLLC announced last week their plans to merge their practices and relocate the Smith firm from Peabody Place to Apperson Crump offices at 6000 Poplar Ave.
