1. Lunch Offers Networking for Entrepreneurs -

Difficult journeys are best undertaken with map in hand – or, barring that, some wisdom from an experienced traveler who has already made the same journey.

With that idea in mind, the Society of Entrepreneurs and EmergeMemphis are assembling a diverse set of business leaders this month for a networking lunch, where attendees will be able to pick the brains of the gathered veterans for insight and practical advice.

But if the show’s good enough, it’s going to attract you, said Scott Gentleman, general manager of Jim’s Place East, who hopes that theory also holds true for a popular restaurant.

Southern country club meets Manhattan chic. Not exactly an everyday mix, but when designer Amy Howard set to work on the interior of John Bragg’s newly relocated restaurant, Circa, she wasn’t aiming for ordinary.

6. Historic Restaurant to Begin New Chapter in New Locale -

Jim’s Place restaurant was founded Downtown in 1921. Eighty-nine years later, the Taras family still owns Jim’s Place East, on Shelby Oaks Drive, and Jim’s Place Grille, in Collierville, though a major change is coming for Jim’s Place East in the next few months.

7. Jim’s Place East Finds New Home on Perkins -

Jim’s Place East – a Memphis tradition since its founding nearly 90 years ago – is opening a location at Poplar Avenue and Perkins Road, having signed a 10-year lease for the 5,900-square-foot space that recently housed Harold’s women’s boutique.
