The new owner is Neil Van Uum, the founder of the Joseph-Beth Group bookstore chain, of which Davis-Kidd used to be a part. Several Joseph-Beth stores closed and others were sold during an auction as part of the chain filing bankruptcy.

The Joseph-Beth Group has apparently conceded that fact. In a filing this week, the book store chain said it wouldn’t be able to submit a reorganization plan that meets the approval of lenders, creditors and the bankruptcy court.
