1. Mobile Health Clinic Hits Streets to Help Homeless -

Baptist Memorial Health Care and Christ Community Health Services rolled out a new state-of-the-art mobile health clinic earlier this month, and the larger, modernized vehicle will give Baptist Operation Outreach the ability to treat more of the area’s homeless population in need of medical care.

2. Local Organizations Help Homeless Community -

Baptist Operation Outreach and Soles4Souls offered assistance to those less fortunate, providing health care services, food and clothing to the homeless, at annual events held during the Thanksgiving holiday.

5. Union Mission Buys Washington Property -

Memphis Union Mission has bought property behind its men’s emergency shelter at 383 Poplar Ave. for $975,000, part of an expansion plan approved by the city-county Land Use Control Board and Memphis City Council earlier this year.

7. Memphis Union Mission Shelter Eyes Expansion -

Memphis Union Mission is moving closer toward purchasing 3.1 acres of property behind its flagship men’s emergency shelter at 383 Poplar Ave. Downtown, which the organization has operated since 1963.

The American Heart Association will hold “Girl’s Night Out: A Night to Celebrate ‘Go Red for Women’” Monday, June 6, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hilton Memphis, 939 Ridge Lake Blvd. The evening will include a silent auction, vendors and a heart-healthy meal. If everything goes as planned, the Grisanti family could be returning to South Main Street, where their first restaurant opened in 1909.

Plans are in the works to open a 100-seat restaurant this summer in Glasshouse 383, a gallery at 383 S. Main St. that sells studio art glass.
