Dads and their children are set to take over the Memphis Zoo this week for Fatherhood Friday, an initiative organized by the Memphis Rotary Club, an organization of businessmen and women committed to improving the community through service activities.

9. Ready Shelby Day Held Saturday at Zoo -

Shelby County is reaming up with the Memphis Zoo, 2000 Prentiss Place, to raise awareness of natural disasters and how to prepare for the unexpected in an event called Ready Shelby Day, which will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The open house is geared to middle school, high school and community college students and will provide the opportunity to meet faculty, staff, students and alumni and take guided tours. 16. Zoo Concert to Benefit Oil Spill Relief Efforts -

The Memphis Zoo will take its “Unplugged” concert series outside Friday to raise funds for the Memphis Zoo and the Audubon Nature Institute’s oil spill relief efforts in the Gulf of Mexico.

The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the courtyard at the zoo, 2000 Prentiss Place.
