1. Local Logistics Firms Expand Medical Real Estate Offerings -

Memphis area industrial brokers are reporting an increase in activity with third-party and proprietary logistics companies involved in distribution of medical/pharma-related product.

During the second half of this year, several local companies have inked new leases that will expand their overall space in the Memphis area, creating new jobs in the process.

2. Bioventus Inks Deal for 40,000 Square Feet -

A Durham, N.C.-based biologics company is relocating its Memphis presence, signifying a boon to the Northeast office submarket.

Bioventus LLC has inked 38,880 square feet of office and manufacturing space in Goodlett Farms Business Campus, 1900 Charles Bryan Road, in Cordova.

3. CRE Shows Q2 Improvement -

Memphis’ commercial real estate landscape may be inching closer to recovery, as evidenced by the latest CB Richard Ellis MarketView report.

In the second quarter of 2011, Memphis’ office market saw continued signs of growth from existing tenants, and improved investment sale activity.

4. Commercial Real Estate Tumbles -

After a prolonged and prosperous ride, commercial real estate stumbled in the past year with no signs of regaining its balance anytime soon.

Just 998 commercial sales were made in Shelby County from August 2007 through July 2008, down 17.6 percent from 1,211 sales during the previous 12-month period, according to the latest data from real estate information company Chandler Reports, www.chandlerreports.com.

6. Goodlett Farms Portfolio Sells for $18.9 Million -

Two local entities related to Dallas-based JP Realty Partners Ltd. have bought a pair of Class A office buildings in the Goodlett Farms development just south of Interstate 40 between Whitten and Appling roads.

The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art hosts "Marti Gras," a tribute to Creole culture, art and food, today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 1934 Poplar Ave. The event includes a tour of Maritza Davila's exhibit "Cityscapes and Country Views: America through Prints 1900-1955" at 7 p.m. Admission is free for members and $6 for non-members.
