Memphis-based PLC International Inc. has bought a vacant 68,000-square-foot Schnucks supermarket at 1150 N. Germantown Parkway (also known as 1140 Cordova Road) from SM Properties Memphis LLC for $3.1 million.
7. Cordova Hastings Store to Close

Entertainment retailer Hastings Entertainment has operated a store in Cordova for the last four years.
But the location at 1245 Germantown Parkway, where the chain has operated in a 25,000-square-foot space since 2007, has long been unable to hit the company’s earnings target. That’s according to Hastings chief financial officer Dan Crow, who cited that and the fact “we just didn’t have sufficient volume” at the location as reason the company is closing it in early December.

Entertainment retailer Hastings Entertainment is closing its approximately 25,000-square-foot store in Cordova at 1245 Germantown Parkway. That’s just north of the 68,000-square-foot space at 1150 Germantown Parkway that was most recently a Schnucks grocery store.

Schnuck Markets Inc. announced Monday it is closing its supermarket in Cordova at 6 p.m. on Aug. 28.
Lori Willis, a spokesperson for Schnucks, said the closing was isolated and the result of market conditions in the Cordova area. The store’s nearby competitors include Walmart Supercenter, SuperTarget and Kroger.

13. Pecan Park Buys 12 North Parkway Condos

A limited liability company called Pecan Park Holdings LLC has bought all 12 condominium units in a trio of four-plexes at 1808, 1818 and 1820 North Parkway near Rhodes College for a combined $1.6 million. Pecan Park Holdings, represented in trust deeds by David Schay of Germantown, bought the condo units from three sellers.
Pecan Park paid $1.2 million for 10 of the units (in all three buildings) from Pecan Park Condominiums LLC, $182,500 for one unit in the 1808 North Parkway building from Timothy E. Young and $179,500 for one unit in the 1818 North Parkway building from Martin P. Boscaccy.
The 10 units – four of which are in the 1820 North Parkway building, three of which are in the 1808 North Parkway building and three of which are in the 1818 North Parkway building – were all built in 1921.
Each of those units is appraised at $198,800 for a combined appraised value of slightly less than $2 million, according to the Shelby County Assessor of Property. As for the other two units that Pecan Park bought from Young and Boscaccy, those also are appraised at $198,800. All 12 of the units are 1,150 square feet with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
A call to Pecan Park Holdings wasn’t immediately returned.
