2. Agape Love Bus Offers Tours of Places Served - Monday, September 17, 2012

Agape is offering Mid-Southerners a chance to visit the people and places served by the nonprofit by reserving a spot on the Agape Love Bus.

The free, two-hour Agape Heart Shares tour will depart from Agape’s office at 111 Racine St. Sept. 26 and Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Individuals and groups are welcome.

American literary and civil rights icon Dr. Maya Angelou repeatedly encouraged audience members to “be a rainbow in somebody’s cloud” Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Memphis, during the Agape HeartLight 2012 benefit.

5. Donor Buys Duplex for Agape - Friday, February 22, 2008

Thanks to a $70,000 donation from an anonymous benefactor, Agape Child and Family Services' Families in Touch (FIT) program will begin moving into new office space at the end of the month.

Officials said the donor has bought a duplex for FIT not far from its current campus, the location of which Agape does not publicize because of clients' safety. FIT provides housing and counseling to homeless pregnant women and their children.

The Center for Southern Folklore hosts country musician Roy Harper today from noon to 2 p.m. at 123 S. Main St. For more than 50 years, Harper has kept alive the traditions of old-time classic country and folk music with his tales of working on the railroad, hobos, ne'er-do-wells and the joys of small town life. The special lunchtime concert also will feature Ella Kizzie's homemade chicken dinner and peach cobbler. The Children's Museum of Memphis (CMOM) hosts the fourth annual CMOM Golf Tournament to benefit the "Yes, EVERY Child!" program at 11:30 a.m. at Memphis Country Club, 3034 Southern Ave. The Yes, EVERY Child! program provides free CMOM admission for less fortunate families. Lunch will be provided starting at 11:30 a.m., and the tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Golfers will play in teams of four for $300 a person.
