1. Sales Tax Hike Early Voting Expands -

Early voting in the last elections of 2013 expands Tuesday, Nov. 12, to 15 satellite voting sites across Memphis.

The early voting period, underway since Nov. 1 and ending Nov. 16, is for the only citywide election of an unusually busy political year that has featured 11 elections in three months.

2. Schools Consolidation Early Voting Tops 2K -

Early voting in advance of the March 8 election day topped 2,000 through Saturday – 2,161 to be exact.

Both sides of the schools consolidation question on the ballot worked to rally voters over the weekend as early voting expanded Saturday to sites across the city.

3. District 83 Early Voting Comes To Quiet End Today -

Early voter turnout in the special election for state House District 83 may not make it much higher than 1 percent if the bitterly cold weather becomes a political factor.

Today is the last day of the early voting period that began before Christmas, pausing for that holiday as well as the New Year’s holiday.

4. Merry Balloting During Today’s Early Voting -

As last-minute Christmas shoppers begin their tradition, early voters will be going to the polls.

Early voting begins today for the first election of 2010, the special general election for state representative District 83.

Walt Schuler and Morris Landau will present a continuing education seminar titled “Medical Records Law: HIPAA Changes are Coming” today from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel, 5069 Sanderlin Ave. The seminar will focus on helping health care providers avoid costly investigations by federal and state authorities and to avoid lawsuits and bad publicity by maintaining the privacy and security of patients’ health. 7. Harding Academy Buys Cordova Property -

Harding Academy of Memphis Inc. has bought a residential property next to its Macon Road campus in Cordova. The school paid $665,000 for a 6.3-acre lot at 8436 Macon Road from Kathleen Tower, Betty Copeland, Donald R. Downs and Charles A. Downs. The sale closed Oct. 1.

8. Griz Players to Help Open White Station Church Center -

Several Memphis Grizzlies basketball players will be at the White Station Church of Christ’s new Community Life Center open house this weekend.

The event will take place Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 1106 Colonial Road.
