1. Levitt Shell Opens Spring Season -

The Levitt Shell opens its spring 2012 season with a kid-friendly schedule shift and an serendipitous focus on music and dance groups with roots in Africa. The new season will include as many free shows as the previous season, however they are spread out over a longer period of time, May 17 through July 1.

Ardent has been bringing in major talent to Memphis for years: The Vaughn Brothers, the White Stripes, ZZ Top and B.B. King have all recorded there. The Beale Street Caravan has been exposing the world to Memphis music for years.

4. Levitt Shell Preps for Spring Season, Big Star Tribute -

The Levitt Shell in Overton Park took Memphis by storm in its inaugural season by offering free music on themed-genre nights. This season, the schedule is being thrown out the window.

From May 20 to June 20, the Levitt Shell will offer five free weekly concerts featuring local and out-of-town artists in Latin, soul and R&B, Americana, children’s music, and Memphis.

5. Levitt Shell Comes to Life With Spring Concert Season -

The Levitt Shell in Overton Park will kick off the second leg of its opening concert season May 28 with free concerts for families seeking fresh air and fun. And those involved at the historic venue anticipate a strong finish to the season, just months after a massive renovation brought the Midtown landmark back to life.
