8. Pro Bono Hotline Makes Access Inroads -

In the first three months of 2013, nearly 800 Tennesseans have called a toll free hotline for pro bono legal assistance, which is only about 100 fewer inquiries than the state’s online pro bono website averaged over the same period.

The glory of the past and the art of the present collide along the Mississippi River as West Memphis-based DeltaARTS unveils a first-time event.

“Art on the Levee at Waverly Plantation” will showcase one of the few remaining Antebellum homes on the Mississippi River levee in Eastern Arkansas, on Saturday, April 28.

From March to September, Matt Hughes is a busy man. His 10-year-old son plays for the Jackson (Tenn.) Coyotes, a competitive baseball team. Just about every weekend Hughes and his family of four hit the road for a baseball tournament, traveling around the Southeast to places from Memphis to Panama City, Fla.

18. United Housing Celebrates 2,010th Client Purchase -

United Housing Inc. will celebrate Wednesday its 2,010th client’s home purchase.

The nonprofit organization, which rehabs and affordably sells vacant properties in Memphis neighborhoods, will host a reception to honor Vince and Irma Henderson and thank its partners for the successes over the past 16 years. The couple purchased their home after attending homebuyer education and obtaining a loan from United Housing.

LONDON (AP) - The pound fell to its lowest level against the dollar in five years Friday on fears that Britain's banking sector could suffer more losses from the world financial crisis, and that the dispute between Britain and Iceland over money in collapsed Icelandic banks could escalate.
