1. Uber, Lyft Operating Despite Cease-and-Desist Notices -

Uber and Lyft continued to shuttle customers back and forth early this week, undaunted by the city’s decision last week to send the companies cease-and-desist letters.

A representative from Uber said the company had not received any notice from the city by Tuesday, July 15, and indicated the company has no intention of putting the brakes on the app-based service.

Theatre Memphis was awarded the 2010 Twink Lynch Award by the American Association of Community Theatres at its AACTFest convention in Rochester, N.Y.

Wayne Littleton has been promoted to manager of private banking at Paragon National Bank. He also will continue to serve as president of the bank’s Saddle Creek branch, 7600 Poplar Ave.

5. Wilson Named CBU Dean Of Graduate, Professional Studies -

Dr. Patrick Wilson has been named dean of the Graduate and Professional Studies program at Christian Brothers University.

Wilson will lead the marketing, recruitment and retention for evening undergraduate programs and graduate programs as well as have responsibility for the financial planning and administrative operations.

6. Barrett Opens Design and Marketing Firm -

Stefanie Barrett has opened Barrett Creative, a full-service graphic design and marketing firm. Barrett has more than 15 years of experience. She is a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), the Memphis Chamber of Commerce and Women on the Move, and serves as the marketing sponsor for the Commission on Missing and Exploited Children (COMEC) and the Small Business Chamber.
