6. Restaurants Make Market Entrée at Crescent Center -

The Poplar/240 corridor soon will add a pair of national restaurant tenants to its already booming portfolio of dining options.

The Land Use Control Board unanimously approved in April a planned development to add two upscale freestanding restaurants to the Crescent Center office building site at Poplar Avenue and Ridgeway Road.

9. Cooper-Young Festival Revs Up for 22nd Edition Despite Economic Woes -

A groundbreaking event at the Mid-South Fairgrounds, some highly anticipated chicken sandwiches, and even a band of Iguanas highlight the 22nd annual Cooper-Young Festival taking place Saturday.

Organizers said despite the bad economy, the festival must go on.

10. LexisNexis Acquisition of Juris Signals Legal Trend of Mergers -

With law firms across the country seemingly merging almost every day, it seems appropriate the companies providing the management software for those firms eventually would follow suit.

Earlier this month, European-based information services company LexisNexis acquired Juris Inc., a time, billing and accounting software provider based in Brentwood, Tenn. , for mid-sized law firms.

11. Reynolds Named Head Baseball Coach at STCC -

Alan "Bo" Reynolds has been named the new head baseball coach at Southwest Tennessee Community College. He previously worked at Olive Branch High School, where he was head baseball coach in 2005-2006 after serving as assistant coach from 2003 to 2005. He also coached at Rhodes College from 1990 to 2003, where he was both an assistant coach and head coach and the University of Memphis from 1987 to 1990. There, he was an assistant under head coach Bobby Kilpatrick.

12. Local Radiologist Named NMA President-Elect -

Dr. Albert Morris Jr. was named president-elect of the National Medical Association during the group's annual convention. A private practice radiologist, Morris has served on the board of the Memphis and Shelby County Medical Society. He is a graduate of the Howard University College of Medicine and completed a residency and fellowship training at the University of Tennessee-Memphis.
