A California-based owner and operator of self-storage facilities has purchased a Collierville storage facility for $3.9 million.

LifeStorage, through an entity operating as SSTN 651 S. Rowlett Street LLC, acquired the 62,170-square-foot facility at 651 S. Rowlett St. from LottaStorage LLC, according to an Oct. 6 special warranty deed. The Shelby County Assessor of Property’s 2014 appraisal is $2.2 million.

Transportation company Federal Express has announced its providing $250,000 to Mid-South Community College in West Memphis.

FedEx and college officials said Tuesday that the donation will be used to support an FAA-certified Aviation Maintenance Technology training program. The college plans to build a program-specific facility to increase the number of students it can train.

The company said the closure of the facility resulted from the underutilization of the Memphis plant on Presidents Island and its location far away from the Corn Belt. The nearby corn oil refinery that employs 28 people will remain open and operate as a standalone facility, Cargill said.

The multifamily group at CB Richard Ellis Memphis has closed on the sale of four properties in the Memphis market over the last several weeks.

Briar Club Apartments, a 272-unit apartment community constructed in 1985, sold for $8.7 million, or $32,093 per unit. Cinnamon Trails Apartments, a 208-unit apartment community constructed in 1989, sold for $8.6 million, or $41,461 per unit. respectively. CBRE Memphis represented the sellers, Briar Apartments LLC and Cinnamon Apartments LLC in the sale to New York based Briar Club LLC and Cinnamon Trail LLC.

The Polo Shops retail center on Winchester Road in Southeast Memphis has sold for $3.1 million following a foreclosure.

An entity called TOP11 - 7444 Winchester RD LLC bought the property, whose addresses are 7444 Winchester Road and 7464 Winchester Road, in a Feb. 19 substitute trustee’s deed from R. Spencer Clift III of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC.

Clean Line Energy and its partners are hosting public meetings this month to provide information on their wind energy distribution plan and meet with local businesses.

Clean Line Energy plans on building a 700-mile-long transmission system to deliver around 3,500 megawatts of wind power – enough energy to power around 1 million homes – generated in the Oklahoma panhandle to the Mid-South and the Southeast.
