1. Bank On Memphis Continues to Grow -

More than 6,400 Bank On Memphis accounts have been created since 2010, when the Memphis and Shelby County governments joined business and nonprofit groups to launch the initiative.

Most of those were checking accounts, with the rest being savings accounts. Most accounts were opened by residents in the 38109 ZIP code of Whitehaven, followed by Midtown’s 38106 ZIP code and Orange Mound’s 38114 ZIP code.

11. CB Richard Ellis Brokers Four Multifamily Sales -

The multifamily group at CB Richard Ellis Memphis has closed on the sale of four properties in the Memphis market over the last several weeks.

Briar Club Apartments, a 272-unit apartment community constructed in 1985, sold for $8.7 million, or $32,093 per unit. Cinnamon Trails Apartments, a 208-unit apartment community constructed in 1989, sold for $8.6 million, or $41,461 per unit. respectively. CBRE Memphis represented the sellers, Briar Apartments LLC and Cinnamon Apartments LLC in the sale to New York based Briar Club LLC and Cinnamon Trail LLC.

The Polo Shops retail center on Winchester Road in Southeast Memphis has sold for $3.1 million following a foreclosure.

An entity called TOP11 - 7444 Winchester RD LLC bought the property, whose addresses are 7444 Winchester Road and 7464 Winchester Road, in a Feb. 19 substitute trustee’s deed from R. Spencer Clift III of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC.

Clean Line Energy and its partners are hosting public meetings this month to provide information on their wind energy distribution plan and meet with local businesses.

Clean Line Energy plans on building a 700-mile-long transmission system to deliver around 3,500 megawatts of wind power – enough energy to power around 1 million homes – generated in the Oklahoma panhandle to the Mid-South and the Southeast.

A partnership of two Utah-based companies has acquired a medical office building on Union Avenue near Overton Square.

Trivalis LLC and Novalis LLC, both based in Utah, acquired the medical office building built in 1967 at 2076 Union Ave., next door to the IHOP restaurant, for $2.6 million. The property, at the corner of Union Avenue and Florence Street, was appraised at $1.3 million in 2013, according to the Shelby County Assessor of Property’s office. The sellers, Missouri-based Roundabout Real Estate LLC and Visual Projects LLC, acquired the property in 2008 for $2 million.

Memphis Housing and Community Development director Robert Lipscomb confirmed that he is working on the effort but said he was not yet able to release detailed information on the project.

The Shopping Center Group LLC is moving to a new office.

The Memphis office of the Atlanta-based retail real estate brokerage firm, which leases a total of approximately 4 million square feet of retail space and represents 100 retailers, is moving from 773 E. Brookhaven Circle to 5101 Wheelis Drive, Suite 106, at Clark Centre.

Seedco is a national nonprofit whose mission statement since 1987 has been “to advance economic opportunity for people, businesses and communities in need.”

This is done, says Lisa Pote, senior vice president for Seedco’s Mid-South regional office, by working with individuals and businesses, and within the communities themselves, “to be a contribution to the communities that we’re in.” Seedco has been working within Shelby County since 2004, and has 30 employees.

The 10-building, 85,390-square-foot American Mini Storage at 7399 U.S. 64 in Northeast Memphis has sold for $2.4 million following a foreclosure.

An entity called 7399 US Highway 64 Holdings LLC – which is affiliated with Miami Beach, Fla.-based loan servicer LNR Partners LLC – bought the property in a July 15 substitute trustee’s deed from Stewart G. Austin Jr. and R. Mathew Brinner of Glankler Brown PLLC.

A decade ago, about 15 out of every 1,000 infants born in Shelby County were dying before the age of 1 – one of the worst rates in the U.S., and worse than in many developing countries.

In Shelby County, many infants die because they are born too early or too small, said Dr. Giancarlo Mari, chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and a leading specialist in maternal and fetal medicine. Birth defects, prematurity and maternal complications from pregnancy also are leading causes of infant deaths in the first year of life, he said.
