NASHVILLE – The organizer of a trip by 15 state legislators to China this summer says he returned with a "verbal commitment" from Chinese officials to match up to $5 million in state money for establishing educational ties between the nation and Tennessee.

Keaton Williams has joined Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis as special events coordinator.

6. Minglewood Open for Business -

The initial phase of Minglewood Plaza, a $5 million mixed-use development in the heart of Midtown, opened to the public Friday night, giving Memphis a much needed, mid-sized entertainment venue and giving new life to a building that has been home to a bread factory, a music store and a church.

The Memphis Holiday Parade will be held today at 5 p.m. in the South Main Historic Arts District. The South Main shops and galleries will host magic shows, face painting, balloon artists and stilt walkers. After the parade, the South Main Jolly Trolley Tour with parties and art openings will be held.

Virginia Stallworth is the new president of the board of directors for the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Stallworth has served on the board since 2005. She is the associate director at the Memphis Child Advocacy Center, where she has worked for nine years. Stallworth also serves on the board of directors for the Memphis Area Women's Council.
