Soul Fish Café has selected a prime piece of real estate in East Memphis for its third location.
The catfish and Southern-inspired restaurant has signed a lease for the old Wolf Camera space in the Poplar Avenue/Perkins Road corridor. The 3,100-square-foot freestanding building at 4720 Poplar Ave. will mark Soul Fish’s third location in Memphis, behind its original spot in Midtown’s Cooper-Young district and its Germantown location near Forest Hill-Irene Road.

Almost as soon as the president of Memphis-based investment firm Duncan-Williams Inc. has settled back into the swing of things after returning from one trip, he’s boarding a plane for the next. And that pattern doesn’t look like it will slow down anytime soon, given that the firm has been opening offices around the country at a steady clip.

Now Raymond Williams and Tiger Bryant have opened a second Soul Fish Café in Germantown, an optimistic move that might seem to run counter to the prevailing economy, but Williams said, “Despite the recession, our sales were up 20 percent in 2009,” a year that was rife with the closing of local restaurants.
