1. Kroger Midtown Expansion Gets Mixed Reaction -

While the expansion of Kroger’s Midtown store is still in the early stages, the effects are apparent in the surrounding community.

Kroger Delta Division earlier this month bought the Belvedere Apartments for $2.6 million. It then purchased the Kroger store on Union Avenue that it was leasing from Art Seessels’ family, as well as two adjacent parcels for a combined $4.6 million, bringing Kroger’s ownership of property in the area from South Idlewild Street to LeMaster Street along Union.

In 1906, Edward Boyle, a member of the well-known Memphis family of developers, helped fashion a grand boulevard through the Central Gardens neighborhood.

Scores of influential Memphians have lived in the Midtown community's bungalows, foursquares and Tudor estate homes, including former Memphis City Council member Florence Leffler and federal judge Julia Gibbons.

3. Commercial Advisors' Jensen Voted Commercial Broker of the Year -

Larry Jensen has received the 2005 Pinnacle Award for Commercial Broker of the Year from the Memphis Area Association of Realtors' Commercial Council. Jensen is president and CEO of Commercial Advisors LLC. He has more than 30 years of experience in real estate.

4. Martin Joins Glankler Brown as Member -

Venita Marie Martin has joined Glankler Brown PLLC as a member of the firm. Martin concentrates her practice in general civil litigation, family law and employment law. She previously served as law clerk to Tennessee Supreme Court Justice A.A. Birch Jr.
