Target is grappling with a data security nightmare that threatens to drive off holiday shoppers during the company's busiest time of year.

The nation's second largest discounter said Thursday that data connected to about 40 million credit and debit card accounts was stolen as part of a breach that began over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Memphis City Council members are expecting more than two dozen contenders to consider for the vacant District 8 Position 2 Super District seat on the council.

They include the owner of a neighborhood grocery store, an insurance executive, seasoned political partisans, a courthouse security guard, perennial candidates, a math teacher and neighborhood activists.

Over the course of former Memphian Jason Miccolo Johnson's award-winning photographic career, he's captured icons such as Princess Diana and five of the last six U.S. presidents.

He scored a rare session to photograph the late Supreme Court justice Thurgood Marshall, and another photo assignment carried him to Selma, Ala., where he walked across the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge. That's where armed police officers attacked civil rights demonstrators in 1965, an event remembered as "Bloody Sunday."
