1. Ignite Memphis Returns With More Rapid-Fire Ideas -

Ignite Memphis returns next week with what organizers say looks to be the biggest Ignite event ever, on track for another sellout.

The basic idea behind Ignite Memphis: Get a group of creative professionals and Memphians of all stripes, really, to take the stage and make a presentation. That’s pretty much it, other than a few parameters, such as the requirement that the presentations include slides and last a total of five minutes.

2. Ignite Memphis Doubling Event Capacity -

Ignite Memphis, an event at which Memphis creatives give a series of slide-based presentations on a range of diverse topics, sold out its gathering in November.

That’s why the next incarnation of Ignite is more than doubling its venue capacity by moving from Crosstown Arts to Playhouse on the Square, where 12 speakers next week will challenge, inform and perhaps inspire the crowd that’s come to hear them.

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Obama administration's top environmental official in the oil-rich South and Southwest region has resigned after Republicans targeted him over remarks made two years ago when he used the word "crucify" to describe how he would go after companies violating environmental laws.

4. Roast Club Holds Weekend Comedy Fest -

Memphis standup and improv comedy performers will come together for the first Memphis Comedy Festival Thursday, Feb. 16, through Sunday, Feb. 19. Presented by the Memphis Roast Club, the festival is at TheatreWorks, 2085 Monroe Ave.
