The law firm of Rainey, Kizer, Reviere & Bell PLC has renewed its lease in the Raymond James Tower Downtown and expanded its presence there.

Its current expansion brings a larger conference room and more attorney offices, boosting the firm’s footprint by 30 percent and providing room for future growth.

V. Latosha Dexter has rejoined Rainey, Kizer, Reviere & Bell PLC as a member of the firm’s Employment Law and Civil Rights Practice Group.

Dexter joined Rainey Kizer upon graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2000. In 2006, she went to work as a program management adviser for FedEx Corp., where she was responsible for advising management in FedEx’s human resources department, and developing and monitoring employee relations processes.

6. UTHSC College of Medicine Names Smith Interim Dean -

J. Lacey Smith has been named interim dean for the College of Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Smith currently serves as the associate dean of clinical affairs for the College of Medicine and the chief medical officer and executive vice president for UT Medical Group Inc.

7. U of M’s Palazolo Receives Engineering Education Award -

Dr. Paul Palazolo, assistant dean and assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Memphis’ Herff College of Engineering, has received the Peter G. Hoadley Award for Outstanding Engineering Educator from the Tennessee section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

8. Todd Named CFO at Methodist North -

Kevin Todd has been named chief financial officer at Methodist North Hospital.

Todd joined Methodist Healthcare in 1996 and has held various positions in corporate accounting and financial analysis. He previously served as director of finance at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center from 2002 to 2005 before becoming the CFO at Methodist South Hospital in 2005.

9. Ready to Get Down to Business -

Larry Bloom's former career ended with a boom - literally.

Bloom retired for a second time from law enforcement when he gave notice of his intent to retire March 18 from the Burleson Police Department in Burleson, Texas. He was caught in a shootout the next day.
