1. Grit ‘N’ Grind Lives On in Memphis -

With apologies to the Rolling Stones, the Grizzlies’ off-season is its own lesson on the difference between what you want and what you need.

As yet, that much-desired pure 3-point shooter has not parachuted into Memphis. But the Grizzlies did what they needed to do, retaining free agent guard and fan favorite Tony Allen; reportedly, they have agreed in principle to a four-year, $20 million guaranteed contract.

2. BankTennessee Breaks Ground In Middle Tennessee -

Collierville-based BankTennessee is breaking ground on a new site in Lebanon, Tenn., later this month that will serve as the bank’s Middle Tennessee headquarters.

The groundbreaking on the 7,200-square-foot headquarters will happen June 25 at the property, a 1.85-acre site across from Lebanon High School. The bank’s announcement of its new presence in the town comes on the heels of a period of growth for BankTennessee, which enjoyed one of the best years in its history in 2012 and is looking to its future by focusing on the secret sauce it’s employed for almost 80 years – a commitment to local service.

3. Batum Leads Blazers to 97-93 Win Over Grizzlies -

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – This season is not a lost cause to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Nicolas Batum had 24 points and the new-look Blazers held off the Memphis Grizzlies 97-93 on Thursday night. Jamal Crawford added 17 points, including four clutch free throws in the final seconds as Portland snapped a two-game skid to even to 2-2 under interim head coach Kaleb Canales.

4. Riverfront Development Corp. Elects New Officers -

The Riverfront Development Corp. named the following members to its board of directors: Kemp Conrad, Tomeka Hart and Dan Turley. The following members were elected as officers: Rick Masson, chairman; Greg Duckett, vice chairman; John Farris, secretary; Angus McEachran, assistant secretary; Bill Taylor, treasurer; and John Pontius, assistant treasurer.
