1. Kramer Given Crystal Award by Carwash Association -

Bruce Kramer, an attorney with Apperson Crump PLC, has been given the Crystal Award by the International Carwash Association for his 20 years of service as the association’s general counsel. The association, which was started in Memphis in 1955, is comprised of 15,000 professional car wash operators, retailers and suppliers in 25 nations.

Each of the four winners of the National Civil Rights Museum Freedom Awards talked of different courses they might have taken during the annual forum at Temple of Deliverance Church of God in Christ.

Despite hard times, local commercial real estate firms were able to ink plenty of deals in the past 12 months.

Memphis’ industrial leasing activity kicked off in January when Buena Park, Calif.-based Pacific Logistics Corp. signed a 60,000-square-foot lease in ProLogis Park DeSoto for its first Memphis-area location.

4. Three Finalists Chosen for Bailey’s Court Seat -

The state’s Judicial Nominating Commission spent the last shopping weekend before Christmas interviewing would-be judges in Memphis.

Members of the panel gathered at the Shelby County Courthouse Saturday and came up with a list of three finalists to replace retired Circuit Court Judge D’Army Bailey. The list followed a day of interviews with the applicants.

Dr. Dava F. Gerard has been appointed administrator for the Methodist Healthcare Cancer Center. She previously was the founding vice president and chief operating officer of the Nevada Cancer Institute in Las Vegas.
