1. Dickerson to Carry Tradition of Service as Young Lawyers Division President -

Jake Dickerson, associate with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC, is the incoming 2014 president for the Young Lawyers Division of the Memphis Bar Association.

The division arranges and hosts continuing legal education seminars, networking events, pro bono opportunities and fundraisers such as the annual golf tournament benefiting the Porter Goodwill Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis. MBA members 36 years or younger, or within their first three years of practice, are automatically members of the division.

2. Memphis Bar Association Announces New Positions -

The Memphis Bar Association has its new officers for 2013.

Linda Warren Seely, director of private attorney involvement with Memphis Area Legal Services Inc., is the 2013 president. Kirk Caraway, an attorney with Allen, Summers, Simpson, Lillie & Gresham PLLC, is the new vice president. Tommy Parker, an attorney with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC is the new secretary/treasurer.

3. Memphis Bar Association Announces New Positions -

Twenty-two attorneys from the Memphis office of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC have been named to the 2010 Mid-South Super Lawyers.

The attorneys are Ben C. Adams, Mary L. Aronov, Leo M. Bearman Jr., Sam B. Blair Jr., Michael B. Chance, E. Franklin Childress Jr., Angie C. Davis, Robert J. DelPriore, Gregory G. Fletcher, William H.D. Fones Jr., Grady M. Garrison, Stephen D. Goodwin, James R. “Josh” Hall Jr., Matthew S. Heiter, George T. “Buck” Lewis III, Robert C. Liddon Jr., Eugene J. Podesta Jr., Jackie G. Prester, Jill M. Steinberg, Buckner Wellford, Maurice Wexler and Edward R. Young.

5. U of M School of Music Appoints Rushing Director -

Dr. Randal Rushing, professor of voice and soloist of the concert and opera stage, has been appointed director for the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis. Rushing has been a faculty member at the school for 20 years.

6. Oil Leak Could Hurt Gulf Coast -

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Oil leaking from a sunken drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico oozed slowly toward the coast Monday, endangering hundreds of miles of marshes, barrier islands and white sand beaches in four states from Louisiana to Florida.
