The Memphis Bar Association poll of attorneys on the judicial races on the Aug. 7 ballot shows 16 percent to as high as 38 percent of the attorneys participating have no opinion in many of the judicial races.

4. Commercial Council Elects deWitt, Reilly as Top Leaders -

The Memphis Area Association of Realtors Commercial Council announced its 2013 officers and directors Thursday, Aug. 9, at its annual Member Appreciation and Election Party.

Greg deWitt of Grubb & Ellis Memphis will serve as 2013 president. Patrick Reilly of CB Richard Ellis Memphis will serve as vice president.

5. Memphis Metro CCIM Announces Designees -

Memphis Metro Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) leaders recently pinned five new chapter designees after the participants passed a comprehensive exam.

The latest additions to CCIM are J. Max Hamidi with RE/MAX Elite, Cathy Anderson with Crye-Leike Commercial, James Rasberry with Rasberry CRE, Ed Thomas with Colliers International and Van Watkins with InSouth Bank.

6. The Burger Joint Joins Ridgeway Trace -

Another national burger chain is setting up shop locally, except this one selected Memphis as its entrance into the Tennessee market.

BGR The Burger Joint is the latest tenant to join Ridgeway Trace Center, the 347,358-square-foot development at Poplar Avenue and Interstate 240 anchored by Target, Best Buy, PetSmart and Sports Authority.

Circa by John Bragg restaurant plans to open its East Memphis location at Regalia shopping center, Boyle Investment Co. recently announced.

9. Criminal Court Candidates Lined Up for August Ballot -

A total of 21 candidates are in the race for General Sessions Court Judge Division 7.

The field remained at 21 at Monday’s deadline for candidates to withdraw. It is the largest field of any election, primary or general, on the Aug. 5 ballot.

11. New Vacancies Add to Judicial Races on Ballot -

The Aug. 5 election will feature five special judicial elections.

One of the two latest races to go on the ballot is for the Criminal Court Division 3 judge’s position being vacated by John Colton, whose resignation is effective April 30. He originally set the date for June 30, but changed it so the vacancy could be up for public vote.
