1. International Paper Earnings Surge 38 Percent -

Memphis-based International Paper Co. reported third quarter net earnings of $382 million, an increase of $145 million, or 38 percent, from the third quarter 2012 net earnings of $259 million.

Memphis-based International Paper Co. on Thursday reported its best year in nearly 20 years with net earnings of $1.3 billion compared to $644 million in 2010.

10. Yahoo, ABC Joining Forces in News Partnership -

NEW YORK (AP) – ABC News and Yahoo Inc. are joining to deliver more online news to their audiences. With the deal, ABC News content will be prominently featured on Yahoo News, the most visited news website in the world. It will also show up on Yahoo's popular front page.

11. Graceland Empire Grows with Gift Shop Buy -

Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. has bought a property that sits next to Graceland and houses a souvenir shop whose owners sued EPE last year for conspiracy to eliminate competitors.

EPE paid $465,000 for 3706 Elvis Presley Blvd. from the Jefan Trust of Boca Raton, Fla., with Susan Sandelman as trustee.

A little more than a year ago, a representative of Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. floated a business proposition to Rick Roberts, the owner of a one-story brick storefront a few steps from Graceland.

13. Fox Named Senior Lending Officer with MATCU -

Anthony Fox has been named senior business lending officer at Memphis Area Teachers' Credit Union. He previously was operations manager of sales and service for the FedEx Employees Credit Association. Before working at FedEx, he was a branch manager and commercial lender at Munford Union Bank.
