Home sales activity picked up in the first quarter of this year across the Mid-South, and brokers believe the market recovery is gaining traction.
Shelby County home sales rose 6 percent during the first quarter, with 3,382 sales from January to March compared to 3,179 during the first quarter of 2012, according to real estate information company Chandler Reports, www.chandlerreports.com.

While home sales in both Tipton and Fayette counties took hits in the second quarter – down 11.9 percent and 6.4 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year – each area also boasted improvements compared to the first quarter, which is promising for local experts.
3. Fayette, Tipton Home Sales Decline in December

While December’s home sales are down in Fayette and Tipton counties – 15.8 and 26.9 percent respectively year over year – local real estate agents say they’re staying busy.
Fayette County saw just 32 home sales last month – down from 38 in December 2009 – according to the latest data from real estate information company Chandler Reports, www.chandlerreports.com. But December saw a 14 percent uptick from November’s 28 sales, and a 10 percent boost from October’s 29.
