Memphis-based guitar maker Saint Blues Guitar Workshop is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2014 and is marking the occasion in part with the introduction of several new guitar models.

In addition to putting on some events later this year, Saint Blues is launching a 1984 Bluesmaster reissue guitar model that will be a replica of the company’s first Bluesmaster. It will be part of Saint Blues’ Workshop Series, the company’s high-end line of guitars.

Memphis’ geography is limited to roughly 300 square miles, but its identity stretches beyond the city limits, resonating to the far corners of the globe.

The city’s brand has obvious cornerstones, such as its place in the nation’s cultural topography. Saint Blues Guitar Workshop is launching a new line of affordable, made-in-Memphis guitars.

The guitar maker’s Juke Joint Series is meant to offer guitar players and enthusiasts an affordable gateway into the Saint Blues product line. The new guitars are unbound and include a crystal satin finish, as well as the original Saint Blues logo from the 1980s.

11. Private Schools Step Up Expansion Efforts -

Memphis-area private schools have been experiencing a period of rapid growth. St. Benedict at Auburndale High School, for example, completed a 184,000-square-foot campus last year in Cordova. That move followed the opening in recent years of Briarcrest Christian School's new campus just north of Collierville.
