1. Inman Joins Next Day Access as Franchise Manager -

Greg Inman has joined accessibilities solutions provider Next Day Access as franchise manager for the Memphis office, where he will supervise sales, marketing, service management and hiring. Next Day Access offers wheelchair ramps, stair lifts, bathroom safety products and other accessibility products for people with disabilities or accessibility challenges.

2. Another Major Dell Shareholder Opposes $24.4 Billion Sale -

ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) – Another major Dell shareholder is opposing the company's proposed $24.4 billion sale to a group led by its founder and CEO.

Mutual fund firm T. Rowe Price came out against the deal in a statement issued Tuesday.

3. Six New Seed Hatchery Teams Chosen -

Six new teams have been lined up for the 2013 Seed Hatchery cohort.

Seed Hatchery is Memphis’ high-growth tech startup accelerator and puts entrepreneurs through a 90-day boot camp, with a crash course in customer discovery, business development, go-to-market strategies and investor pitches. And this year’s cohort marks the third collection of founders to go through the program.

4. Court Leaves Ruling Against Big Tobacco Intact -

WASHINGTON (AP) – A federal appeals court on Friday left intact a court judgment that ordered tobacco companies to do corrective advertising about the dangers of smoking.

The companies sought to overturn a federal judge's order on grounds that the order had been superceded by a 2009 law that gave the Food and Drug Administration authority over the industry, including power to require graphic cigarette warnings.

5. Wal-Mart CEO Says he Expects ‘Positive' 4Q Sales -

NEW YORK (AP) – Wal-Mart is focusing on smaller-format stores, bringing back "Action Alley" – wide aisles filled with palettes of discounted merchandise – and offering same-day pickup for online purchases in some areas in an effort to jump start sluggish U.S. sales.

6. Dishmon Joins UT Medical Group -

Dr. Dwight “Dan” Dishmon has joined the Department of Medicine at UT Medical Group.
Dishmon is an interventional cardiologist and cares for adults with ischemic heart disease and peripheral arterial disease.
He earned his medical degree and completed his internal medicine residency and general cardiology fellowship training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He later completed additional fellowship training at Michigan State University’s Borgess Medical Center. 

7. Music of Duke Ellington To Kick Start BPACC Showcase Season -

The Bartlett Performing Arts and Conference Center (BPACC) kicks off its Showcase season with a tribute concert of the utmost sophistication. Jazz and blues singer Joyce Cobb and pianist Donald Brown will host a “Symphonic All-Duke Ellington Night” Saturday at 8 p.m.
