1. Ignite Memphis Doubling Event Capacity -

Ignite Memphis, an event at which Memphis creatives give a series of slide-based presentations on a range of diverse topics, sold out its gathering in November.

Connie Gonitzke has been appointed president and CEO of the National Foundation for Transplants. Gonitzke joined the Memphis-based organization in 2002 as a patient advocate. In 2006, she was named director of resource development, and in 2008, she became the senior vice president of development.

The fourth floor of Playhouse on the Square’s facility at 66 S. Cooper St. is a bustling hub of entrepreneurial activity.

5. Start Co. Adds Women’s, Logistics Accelerators -

Two new startup accelerators are joining the Memphis entrepreneurial scene, both targeting different kinds of company founders.

One is focused on women-led tech startups. The other will focus on company founders who want to build startups focused on the logistics industry.

6. Women's Foundation Director Shines as Woman of Character -

Ruby Bright has been recognized as a 2006 Woman of Character by the Girl Scout Council of the Mid-South. Bright, who is the executive director of the Women's Foundation for a Greater Memphis, was recognized for her courage, confidence and leadership.
