1. Memphis Bar Judicial Poll Released -

The Memphis Bar Association poll of attorneys on the judicial races on the Aug. 7 ballot shows 16 percent to as high as 38 percent of the attorneys participating have no opinion in many of the judicial races.

2. Executive Coach Burtch Earns Int’l Designation -

Bill Burtch, founder and president of full-service management consultancy firm Harmony Coaching & Consulting, has received the Professional Certified Coach designation from the International Coach Federation, becoming the second PCC in Memphis. Burtch, who also holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources designation, focuses his consulting work in executive/team coaching, professional development training and human resources consulting.

3. Cash Finalist for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent -

Memphis City Schools superintendent Kriner Cash is one of three finalists to be superintendent of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools system.

He and the other two will be in Charlotte, N.C., Wednesday and Thursday for a series of public and private meetings with parents, school board members and the media.

Opera Memphis, which opened its 2011-2012 season with the torrid romance and drama of “Tosca” now invites audiences to sit back and laugh.

“The rest of the year it’s all happy endings,” said Ned Canty, Opera Memphis’ general director and stage director for Johann Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus,” which will be staged at the Germantown Performing Arts Centre Jan. 21 and 24.

7. Magna Bank Buys Duntreath Land on Winchester -

Magna Bank has bought for $1.3 million 31.1 acres on Winchester Road in Germantown from Duntreath Partners in lieu of foreclosure. Memphis real estate developer G. Benjamin Clark signed the sale deed as general partner of Duntreath Partners.

8. Marine Captain Files as Democrat for Gordon Seat -

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Marine Capt. Ben Leming of Murfreesboro has filed a petition to run as a Democrat for the congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Bart Gordon.

Adviser Jeff Clark told The Associated Press on Monday that Leming, 34, got permission from the secretary of the Navy to file his candidacy, but can't actively campaign until his active duty ends May 1.

9. State Real Estate Commission Cracks Down on Agents -

The Tennessee Real Estate Commission has fined numerous real estate agents in the state for failing to maintain errors and omissions in insurance.

More than 70 real estate agents were assessed fines for failing to maintain the insurance, including Leena C. Bolton of Germantown, Bertha Ann Boyland of Memphis, Yarmilla G. Bryant of Memphis, Melissa A. Clark of Cordova, Robert Cooper Jr. of Bartlett, Belinda Johnson of Memphis, Jeffery M. Wilson of West Memphis and Maria M. Wilson of West Memphis.
