Those were the judgments rendered across Twitter and Facebook Wednesday during the first debate of the 2012 presidential contest. While millions turned on their televisions to watch the 90-minute showdown, a smaller but highly engaged subset took to social networks to discuss and score the debate as it unspooled in real time.

The gold-plated columns and crystal chandeliers of The Cadre Building were right in line with the American Advertising Federation Memphis’ 2012 ADDY Awards ceremony, themed “Hustle + Workflow.”

All “pimps, players and winners” that produced the best in local advertising and all of the disciplines associated with it were recognized Saturday, Feb. 25, in the historic Downtown building at 149 Monroe Ave., with the tagline, “Damn, it feels good to be a winner.”

The Benjamin L. Hooks Institute for Social Change at the University of Memphis will present “The Obama Phenomenon: Race and Political Discourse in the United States Today” today and Saturday on the University of Memphis campus. On Friday at 6 p.m. the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. will give the conference’s keynote address. On Saturday at 4 p.m. Ronald S. 7. Stapleton to Head Global Operations For Primacy Relocation -

Steve Stapleton has been named vice president of global operations for Primacy Relocation, a third-party employee relocation provider based in Memphis. Stapleton will be responsible for leading the company's U.S. Global Operations team and developing procedures for efficient delivery of services. In related news, Primacy Relocation has been recognized by Target Corp. as a 2006 Vendor of the Year. The award recognizes top vendors that demonstrate values embraced by the organization.

8. Commercial Advisors' Jensen Voted Commercial Broker of the Year -

Larry Jensen has received the 2005 Pinnacle Award for Commercial Broker of the Year from the Memphis Area Association of Realtors' Commercial Council. Jensen is president and CEO of Commercial Advisors LLC. He has more than 30 years of experience in real estate.
