1. High School Hoops Tourney Coming to FedExForum -

Some of the best high school basketball teams from Shelby County will compete at FedExForum for bragging rights in the SCIAA Fever Basketball Tournament Sunday, Feb. 9.

Formerly known as the MIAA City Championships, 2014 will mark the inaugural SCIAA Fever tournament, a winner-take-all style tournament dating back to the 1960s. Past stars of the MIAA City Championships include Memphis’ own Larry Finch, Larry Spicer, John Gunn, James Bradley, Andre Turner, Todd Day, Cedric Henderson, Penny Hardaway and Elliot Perry.

3. Hamilton, Warren Lead LSU Past Ole Miss 81-55 -

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – It had been a long time since LSU enjoyed such a performance in its Southeastern Conference opener as it did Saturday against Ole Miss.

The Tigers led from start to finish in a dominating 81-55 victory against the Rebels on Saturday. The 26-point margin of victory was the largest for LSU in a league opener since its 92-66 victory against Florida in the 1980-81 campaign.

4. Eighty3 Brings New Dining to Madison -

The Madison Hotel’s Grill 83 has received a major face-lift, aiming to lure customers in its doors on a regular basis versus merely for special occasions.

After two weeks of renovations, the rebranded eatery opened its doors Wednesday, Nov. 16, under the name Eighty3, with two new chefs and more urban architecture.

5. Glankler’s Mathis Hits Stride As Attorney, Moot Court Coach -

Attorney Andre B. Mathis of Glankler Brown PLLC said that people have gotten a certain image of attorneys from TV law dramas, but not all lawyers have the same skill sets.

7. McDowell Named Radiology Director At Methodist University Hospital -

Tina McDowell has been promoted to director of radiology at Methodist University Hospital. She served as the manager of diagnostic radiology at MUH for the past six years.
