1. Arena Transformation -

As the city of Memphis is nearing completion of its preparation of The Pyramid for Bass Pro Shops, the Springfield, Mo.-based retailer is slated to start its part of the project in March.

The city and Bass Pro Shops in January filed two building permits with the city-county Office of Construction Code Enforcement for $21.5 million and $7 million for renovations to 32-story The Pyramid arena at 1 A.W. Willis Ave.

2. Uplifting Project -

One-fourth of The Pyramid’s deconstruction is complete, and the project to transform the arena into a Bass Pro Shops superstore by August 2013 is even slightly ahead of schedule.

The city in October filed a $2.5 million building permit to begin new construction work on The Pyramid. By mid-November, the first phase – the demolition – was kicked off by general contractor Montgomery Martin Contractors LLC.

3. City Issues Request for Bids for Pyramid Redevelopment -

The city of Memphis has issued the first request for construction bids to transform The Pyramid into a Bass Pro Shops superstore.

The request’s wording says it is for “Construction of: Pyramid Redevelopment Project – Package 1 – Demolition (First of four contemplated packages in the preparation of Bass Pro Shops at The Pyramid).”
