Home2 Suites by Hilton has opened a new all-suites hotel in Southaven.

The Hilton Worldwide brand caters to business travelers and extended stay guests. The four-story, 105-suite hotel is located at 6750 Southcrest Parkway, strategically located near local attractions and business destinations, including Southaven Towne Center, Snowden Grove Amphitheatre and Snowden Grove Park, Downtown Memphis and Graceland. The property is owned by Cohen Realty Inc. and is managed by Vista Host Inc.

3. Local Entrepreneurs Will Soon Have ‘Urban Workspace’ -

A shared open work space, modeled after incubators in Los Angeles and New York City, is on the brink of being launched in Downtown Memphis.

Urban Workspace Powered by Cricket Wireless, located in the City House Memphis Condos at 6 W. G.E. Patterson Ave., will provide an affordable, shared working environment for freelancers, entrepreneurs, small businesses and startups eager to collaborate and share resources. The co-working facility opens Oct. 1.

4. Sale Could Bring Improvements To Bella Vista -

Like many projects companies launched before the recession hit, the plan for rejuvenating the 432-unit Bella Vista Apartment Homes in Hickory Hill began with such promise.

In March 2007, a newly formed company, Maple Creek Advisors LLC of Dallas, made its first multifamily acquisition with plans to invest $4 million of renovations in the property.

5. Ministry Brings Dental Clinic To Struggling Neighborhoods -

Christian ministers and dentists introduced a mobile dental clinic last week that will travel to low-income areas of Memphis to provide free care.

The first stop was Community Bible Church at 601 N. Bellevue Ave., where the clinic was stationed Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The congregation of Bellevue Baptist Church came up with the idea for the clinic and partnered with others in the community to make it happen.

6. Memphis Literacy Council Fundraiser Offers 'Taste of Cooper-Young' -

Debra Hall was eating lunch with a co-worker on the outdoor patio at Young Avenue Deli, both of them relishing the trendy vista of Midtown's Cooper-Young neighborhood around them.

Hall, director of development and marketing at the Memphis Literacy Council (MLC), and Jon Devin, its director of program development, casually chatted about the multitude of restaurants sandwiched between Cooper Street and Young Avenue. The eateries, they noted, afford plenty of possibilities for their workday lunches.
