Industrial Developments International Inc. is in the midst of adding one build-to-suit and two speculative buildings in its Crossroads Distribution Center in Olive Branch – marking the area’s first spec construction since 2008.

4. $23M Facility Coming to Olive Branch -

Anda Distribution, a Florida-based distributor of generic pharmaceuticals, announced Thursday, Aug. 11, that the company will bring about 70 new jobs to Olive Branch with the construction of a warehouse and distribution facility.

5. Soladigm Announces Scholarship Winners -

Soladigm, a developer of highly energy-efficient glass for next-generation buildings with commercial manufacturing facilities in Mississippi, has announced its selection of the 2011 winners of the Soladigm College Scholarship.

6. Soladigm Launches Miss. Scholarship -

Green technology company Soladigm Inc. has launched the Soladigm College Scholarship and is calling for 2011 submissions from DeSoto County high school seniors.

7. Industrial Leases Driven by Bulk Warehouse Sector -

Absorption in the Memphis industrial market was driven by leasing activity in the bulk warehouse sector for the third quarter, according to the latest data from CB Richard Ellis Memphis.

Memphis Metropolitan Statistical Area’s vacancy rate dipped to 15.7 percent in Q3. Three of the top five leases were in Class A buildings. The top lease transactions of the quarter all occurred within the Southeast and DeSoto submarkets, helping cancel out Q2’s 1.5 million square feet of negative absorption.

Since the establishment of the DeSoto County Economic Development Council in 1978, the county has seen the development of numerous industries, jobs and capital investment.

One of the drivers of those efforts has been Jim Flanagan, president and CEO of the council, who has played a major role in making the county a good place for business.

The spring and summer of 2010 will go down as seasons to remember in Olive Branch.

Between May and late July, four major companies – Soladigm Inc., Hamilton Beach Brands Inc., McKesson Corp. and Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare – announced plans to either open a new facility in, or relocate to, the North Mississippi city.
