Loice DeBerry and Jerry Hamlett represent a number of investors who are seeking entrepreneurial independence and success by purchasing a franchise from an already established business.
The two partners recently purchased and opened a Hungry Howie's Pizza franchise in Southaven. They have plans to open a second Memphis-area store in January in Bartlett. The Southaven location is the first franchise of the Michigan-based business to open in the Memphis area.

The University of Memphis' Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law hosts "Drive for Downtown" Golf Classic, which starts at 8 a.m. at Spring Creek Ranch, 380 S. Collierville-Arlington Road. The tournament begins with breakfast and registration at 8 a.m. followed by a golf clinic at 9 a.m. and a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the law school.
