Eight years ago, Karl Schledwitz crossed the line between politics and business that he had crossed many times before.

But the food sales and marketing company he cofounded has grown so rapidly that Schledwitz talks these days of missing the business of running campaigns and political organizations.

4. Growth Streak -

Andrew Holliday and Daniel Brown, the founding partners of Memphis-based branding and marketing firm Harvest Creative, used to joke about one day making the Inc. 500|5000, the list published each year by Inc. Magazine that honors the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S.

5. Monogram Foods Buys Hinsdale Farms -

Memphis-based Monogram Food Solutions LLC has acquired Hinsdale Farms of Bristol, Ind.

Hinsdale becomes the fourth processed-meat manufacturing plant owned by Monogram. That includes plants in Muncie, Ind., Martinsville, Va., and Chandler, Minn.

Memphis-based Monogram Food Solutions LLC has acquired Hinsdale Farms of Bristol, Ind.

7. Business Honors -

Thirteen Memphis-based companies can officially claim to be among the fastest-growing in the U.S.

That’s according to Inc. Magazine, which put them on its annual Inc. 500|5000 list, an exclusive ranking the magazine published a few days ago that honors the fastest-growing companies by measuring their percentage growth in revenue over a three-year period.

8. Monogram Food Awarded Johnsonville Licensing -

Memphis-based Monogram Food Solutions has been licensed by Johnsonville Sausage LLC to produce various ready-to-eat meat snacks.

9. Monogram Manufacturing Honored by White House -

Two of Memphis-based Monogram Food Solutions Inc.’s manufacturing plants will be recognized by The White House and U.S. Department of Agriculture Friday, Feb. 17, as two of the nation’s most successful manufacturing facilities in rural America.

10. Crye-Leike Inks Car Dealership, Industrial Deals -

Bill Caller with Crye-Leike Commercial has brokered a pair of sales in recent weeks that enable the new users to occupy second-generation space.

Nihal Khwaja with Best Deal Motors purchased the 2-acre former car lot at 5648 Summer Ave. for $150,000.

11. Seeing Success -

On the surface, they don’t have much in common other than their home turf. They include everything from a venerable law firm, prominent regional investment companies, tech firms and even a business that manufactures food products like hot dogs and sandwich meats.

12. Growing Businesses Blueprint for Success -

Another day, another list. The one we’ve highlighted in this week’s cover story, however, is not a ranking done by someone assigned to write something to talk about around the water cooler – that great American arbiter of the trivial. This one is an inventory in which 16 Memphis businesses are included in a tally of the nation’s 5,000 fastest growing businesses.

15. Monogram Food Solutions on Fast-Growing Co. List -

Memphis-based Monogram Food Solutions was recognized on Inc. magazine’s annual list of America’s fastest-growing private companies for the second year in a row.

With a three-year sales growth rate of 112 percent, Monogram was ranked number 2,272 on the 2010 Inc. 500|5000 list, according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2006 to 2009.

16. Monogram Makes Inc. Magazine List -

Memphis-based Monogram Food Solutions has been named to the annual Inc. 5000, a ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing companies. The company ranked No. 856 on this year’s list following a three-year sales growth rate of more than 350 percent.
