It is currently 11,000 square feet, but will have 14,000 square feet of useable space once complete. We will be able to triple our capacity for classes, operate a core program for students on a professional track, add community and adult classes and host other local dance groups that require a space with quality floors for safety and more room than they currently have access to. Pilates Central will operate a full service Pilates studio upstairs. NBE is a stakeholder in Heart of the Arts in partnership with Playhouse on the Square. Borrower: Lamar South LLC
Lender: Regions Bank
Trustee: David Ives
Property: 15.24 acres at 2930 Lamar Ave. near Schults Road. The property, formerly the Cherokee Bowling Alley, is slated to become Lamar Crossing shopping center.
The buyer, Lamar South LLC, is affiliated with Chattanooga-based Results Realty LLC. According to Ron Devine, one of the partners in Results Realty LLC, bulldozers already are on the property and construction is under way.
Falcon Construction filed a building permit in April to demolish the bowling alley, which has been closed for several years.
Once the project is complete, Lamar Crossing will house 15 stores. Tenants who already have committed to the project include Large Apparel, Marty's and Shoe Show of Rocky Mount Inc. Lamar South is in negotiations with other prospective tenants.
Devine said the area is a prime one because it is underdeveloped. He said once the center is complete, residents will be able to invest money in their own neighborhood instead of driving to Winchester Avenue or Elvis Presley Boulevard to shop.
"The buzz word in Memphis right now is Lamar Crossing," he said.
