2. Collierville Daycares Sell for $4.4 Million -

Two Collierville daycare centers have sold for a combined $4.4 million.

SDK Properties LLC sold the center at 105 Crescent Drive to Store Master Funding VII LLC for $2.5 million and the center at 1649 S. Shea Road to the same entity for $1.8 million, according to warranty deeds filed Nov. 14. The buyer, Store Master Funding VII LLC, is an affiliate of Scottsdale, Ariz.-based real estate investment trust STORE Capital. The centers operate as Kid Tech #1 and Kid Tech #2.

3. Collierville Daycares Sell for $4.4 Million -

Two Collierville daycare centers have sold for a combined $4.4 million.

SDK Properties LLC sold the center at 105 Crescent Drive to Store Master Funding VII LLC for $2.5 million and the center at 1649 S. Shea Road to the same entity for $1.8 million, according to warranty deeds filed Nov. 14. 4. County Commission Approves 3 Design Contracts -

Shelby County commissioner approved Monday, Nov. 18, a trio of design contracts totaling $850,851.

The contracts include design of a pedestrian bridge on Benjestown Road across the Looshatchie review as well as design of a widening of Macon Road and a widening of Houston Levee Road.

5. County Commission to Consider Fairgrounds Deal -

The idea of reconfiguring the Mid-South Fairgrounds as a public recreation area financed by the city of Memphis with sales tax revenue from retail development has come back to life under new terms.

6. Survival of the Fittest -

Back in 2010, as the video rental giant Blockbuster was circling the drain in the wake of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, the irony was inescapable to Matt Martin.

Martin, co-owner of Black Lodge Video in Memphis, told a reporter for the Christian Science Monitor how Blockbuster employees “literally laughed in our faces” when the independent video rental shop first opened its doors.

15. County Commission Continues Prekindergarten Debate -

Shelby County Commissioners pick up Monday, July 21, where they left off earlier in the month about a way to fund prekindergarten programs.

The commission faces dueling resolutions, with one setting up further study on an expansion, and the other dedicating $3 million in surplus funds from the just-ended fiscal year and the first $3 million of any surplus from the current fiscal year to Shelby County Schools and the suburban school systems.

16. Crews Realty Buys Collierville Acreage for $2 Million -

Three vacant parcels totaling about 231 acres at Tenn. 385 and Houston Levee Road in Collierville have sold for a combined $2 million.

A Germantown-based entity called HL385 Investments LLC, an affiliate of Crews Realty, bought the properties in two July 14 special warranty deeds from Jane Isbell Haynes, Barton F. Haynes, Elizabeth F. Haynes Burnett and Mary F. Haynes Gardner.

18. Company Buys 30 Acres Of Land for $1.3 Million -

An affiliate of Lakeland-based real estate company WESSCORP Communities has paid $1.3 million for about 30 acres of vacant land in Northeast Memphis near Arlington.

The entity known as The Charleston HL Apartment Community LLC bought the two parcels – one totaling 29.6 acres and one totaling 0.1 acres – in a June 30 special warranty deed from First Alliance Bank.

PHD @ Houston Levee LLC bought the land in a November 6 special warranty deed from Interface Houston Levee LLC. Though the sale closed in November, the Shelby County Register of Deeds didn’t process the paperwork until last week.

Rather than renew the lease to its cinema inside the Wolfchase Galleria mall when it ends in 2017, Malco has decided to replace it by building a new cinema on U.S. 64, west of Houston Levee Road.

Malco spokeswoman Karen Scott said it’s a result of the Memphis-based theater chain preferring to build free-standing facilities moving forward, rather than operate inside someone else’s facility, as it has done at Wolfchase.

Orleans Apartment Community LLC filed the deed of trust, security agreement and fixture filing for the Class A complex Dec. 18 through Transamerica Pacific Insurance Co. Ltd. Charles W. Misenhelter signed the trust deed as member of Orleans Apartment Community.

The Memphis multifamily market turned in a strong performance during 2013, with enhanced investor interest and new units under construction.

Blake Pera, senior vice president of CB Richard Ellis Memphis’ multifamily division, classified the multifamily market in 2013 as healthy and continuing to improve.

The Winchester Law Firm is moving to a new space within the Triad Centre II office building in East Memphis with a new buildout.

48. August 9-15, 2013: This week in Memphis history -

2010: Memphis Mayor A C Wharton Jr. announced Tobey Park would be the site for the city’s first neighborhood skatepark. The $440,000 project was completed and opened in November 2011.

2008: Grays Creek residents and others in Cordova began organizing opposition to plans for a new Walmart Supercenter on the northwest corner of Houston Levee and Macon Roads. The project would later be voted down by the Shelby County Commission.

HGG Investments LLC filed the deed of trust May 6 through First Citizens National Bank. The financing was in conjunction with HGG Investments obtaining the property in a quitclaim deed from Robert E. Harris, Beverley R. Harris, Becky J. Graybill and Andrew P.P. Golay.
