The Houston Levee Apartments community in Cordova has been sold for $17.5 million.

MA Houston Levee at Cordova LLC, which is affiliated with Mount Auburn Capital Group, acquired the 289-unit apartment complex at 9940 Paddle Wheel Drive in Cordova from USA Houston Levee DST, according to a July 9 warranty deed. The buyer filed a $13.4 million loan with Silverspeak Real Estate Finance LLC in conjunction with the purchase, according to a deed of trust filed the same day.

Back in 2010, as the video rental giant Blockbuster was circling the drain in the wake of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, the irony was inescapable to Matt Martin.

49. County Commission Continues Prekindergarten Debate -

Shelby County Commissioners pick up Monday, July 21, where they left off earlier in the month about a way to fund prekindergarten programs.

The commission faces dueling resolutions, with one setting up further study on an expansion, and the other dedicating $3 million in surplus funds from the just-ended fiscal year and the first $3 million of any surplus from the current fiscal year to Shelby County Schools and the suburban school systems.

The entity known as The Charleston HL Apartment Community LLC bought the two parcels – one totaling 29.6 acres and one totaling 0.1 acres – in a June 30 special warranty deed from First Alliance Bank.

PHD @ Houston Levee LLC bought the land in a November 6 special warranty deed from Interface Houston Levee LLC. Though the sale closed in November, the Shelby County Register of Deeds didn’t process the paperwork until last week.

Malco spokeswoman Karen Scott said it’s a result of the Memphis-based theater chain preferring to build free-standing facilities moving forward, rather than operate inside someone else’s facility, as it has done at Wolfchase.

2010: Memphis Mayor A C Wharton Jr. announced Tobey Park would be the site for the city’s first neighborhood skatepark. The $440,000 project was completed and opened in November 2011.

The new owner of the 13,658-square-foot retail center at 9915 U.S. 64 in Arlington has filed a $1.7 million loan on the property.
