Radha Hospitality LLC bought the 24,864-square-foot motel in a May 2 warranty deed from Anil N. Shah and P.V. Shah, who acquired the property in 1991 for $210,000 and developed the land.

Turkey Creek Hospitality completed the $1.7 million purchase of the 1.3-acre property Tuesday, March 18, and will bring a 140-room Hilton Garden Inn to the heart of Downtown Memphis. Hank Martin and Elliot Embry with NAI Saig Co. represented Greyhound Lines Inc. in the transaction.

That phrase has a literal and figurative connotation. WASHINGTON (AP) – A wave of government layoffs in September outpaced weak hiring in the private sector, pushing down the nation's payrolls by a net total of 95,000 jobs.

The unemployment rate held at 9.6 percent last month, the Labor Department said Friday. The jobless rate has now topped 9.5 percent for 14 straight months, the longest stretch since the 1930s.

The Super 8 motel at 6015 Macon Cove near Bartlett sold Aug. 6 for slightly less than $2 million to a Texas-based entity called Uma Manglam Hospitality LLC. The seller was Growth Investment LLC, which bought the property for $2.1 million in 2004.

Chris Rosa has been named general manger of the Holiday Inn and Suites Memphis-Wolfchase. Rosa will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the property. He previously served as vice president of operations for Equity Estates, general manger at the Sheraton Meadowlands and area manger of the Crowne Plaza Ravinia in Atlanta. Rosa also has been named General Manager of the Year by Patriot American Hotels and Hotelier of the Year by the Connecticut Hospitality Association.
