The Gardens of Germantown LLC sold the facility at 3179 Professional Plaza in Germantown to SHP IV Germantown LLC for $10.7 million, according to a Sept. 29 special warranty deed.

8. Sprouts Confirms Lakeland, Germantown Stores in 2015 -

Sprouts Farmers Market, a fast-growing specialty grocery chain, has confirmed it will open two Memphis-area stores in 2015, one in Germantown and another in Lakeland.

Sprouts will turn the 30,000-square-foot former Schnucks location at The Shops of Forest Hill at Poplar Avenue and Forest Hill-Irene Road in Germantown into one of its stores, which replicate the look and feel of an indoor farmers market and specialize in fresh, organic and healthy food.

Nashville-based Elmington Capital Partners apparently likes the apartment market in Downtown Memphis.

An Elmington-affiliated company plans on building a 64-unit apartment complex at 362 S. Second St., south of FedExForum.

19. Office Occupancy Ends 2013 on High Note -

An unusually strong fourth quarter helped push the overall Memphis office market occupancy rate into positive territory for 2013, according to year-end commercial real estate market reports.

The Memphis market recorded absorption of 225,338 square feet in the fourth quarter – the largest positive absorption the market has experienced during any quarter in more than 10 years – to end the year with positive net absorption of 40,558 square feet, according to CB Richard Ellis Memphis.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Best Buy Co. said it plans to close 50 U.S. big box stores and open 100 small mobile locations in the U.S. in fiscal 2013 and cut $800 million in costs by fiscal 2015. The news came Thursday as the biggest U.S. specialty electronics retailer posted a fiscal fourth quarter loss partly due to restructuring charges.

Evolve Digital Media has more than doubled its Memphis location at Apple Tree Center in Hickory Hill.

The Countrywood Crossing shopping center at 2257 N. Germantown Parkway in Cordova added its 32nd tenant-in-common (TIC) with the arrival of Countrywood-Hardt LLC of San Diego. That entity paid $2.2 million for 3.56 percent of the 175,000-square-foot shopping center.

92. State Senate To Consider Banning Living Wage Requirements -

Local governments in Tennessee would lose the power to require private employers to pay their workers a living wage under a bill the Tennessee Senate is scheduled to vote on today.

The legislation earlier this month was passed without much discussion in the Senate’s Commerce, Labor and Agriculture Committee, which is chaired by state Sen. Paul Stanley, R-Germantown. Stanley also is the wage bill’s sponsor.
