4. Crown Files Loan On Hickory Hill Warehouse -

Crown Memphis Associates LLC, an affiliate of Irvine, Calif.-based Crown Realty & Development Corp., has filed a $14.5 million loan through Bank of America NA on its warehouse at 4836 Hickory Hill Road.

5. Allen Takes Helm Of Memphis World Trade Club -

Cannon Allen isn’t a truck driver or freight forwarder. He doesn’t sort cargo or manage a warehouse. But Allen, a partner at the law firm Adams and Reese LLP, is familiar with the inner workings of the transportation and logistics industries.

6. Medtronic Unveils $65M Distribution Expansion -

Executives of Medtronic Inc. celebrated a $65 million expansion of its distribution center Tuesday morning that will allow the medical device company to ship additional products.

7. Commercial Real Estate Tumbles -

After a prolonged and prosperous ride, commercial real estate stumbled in the past year with no signs of regaining its balance anytime soon.

Just 998 commercial sales were made in Shelby County from August 2007 through July 2008, down 17.6 percent from 1,211 sales during the previous 12-month period, according to the latest data from real estate information company Chandler Reports, www.chandlerreports.com.

8. Port Honor Shows ‘What Memphis Is About’ -

Donald McCrory hadn’t heard that the International Port of Memphis would be featured this summer by the U.S. Custom House Guide as its “Port of the Month,” but he wasn’t surprised by the news either.

9. Q4 Commercial Sales Down 8 Percent -

Though Shelby County's commercial real estate performed well through most of 2007, sales declined more than 8 percent in the fourth quarter, according to the latest data from real estate information company Chandler Reports, www.chandlerreports.com.
