2. ServiceMaster Begins Trading on NYSE -

The parent company of Memphis-based ServiceMaster Co. LLC began trading on the New York Stock Exchange Thursday, June 26, in an initial public offering of its common stock.

The move to the market comes a day after ServiceMaster Global Holdings Inc. announced it was pricing the offering of 35.9 million shares at $17 per share. The pricing was below analysts’ estimates of $18 to $21 per share.

A lot has changed for Memphis-based TruGreen lawn care in the last six months.

The company behind one of the best known brands in lawn care became its own independent company at the start of 2014, spinning off from The ServiceMaster Co. in a move that meant changes for both companies.

Memphis-based Running Pony Productions has won eight statuettes in the 31st annual Telly Awards.

Running Pony won for a short documentary produced for Homewood Suites and the Nature Conservancy, a series of 30-minute child nutrition programs for the National Food Service Management Institute, commercials for Scan Interiors and Ashley Furniture HomeStore, a public service campaign for Shelby County government, a safety video and branding video for TruGreen and the “I Am a Man” documentary on the Memphis sanitation workers’ strike.

As soon as he heard the Memphis Redbirds were coming to town in 1998, Buddy Young bought season tickets and has renewed them every year since.

From the first two seasons at the old Tim McCarver Stadium to the debut of AutoZone Park in 2000, from Albert Pujols’ walkoff home run that won the Pacific Coast League title the first season at AutoZone to last year’s championship run, Young has been a die-hard Redbirds supporter.

57. TruGreen Fined $500K By NY Officials -

TruGreen lawn care is being fined $500,000 by New York environmental officials for the misapplication of pesticides and filing inaccurate records.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation filed the agreement this week with the Memphis-based company over what the agency said were more than 100 violations in New York dating back to 2007, mostly in the Albany area.

Tom Courtney is vice president and associate general counsel for TruGreen, TruGreen LandCare and TruGreen LawnCare, all of which are business units of Memphis-based The ServiceMaster Co. Jeshahnton “Shaun” Essex has been named assistant administrator at Methodist University Hospital.

Essex will be responsible for environmental services, mail services, food and nutrition services, laboratory, radiology and facility and engineering services. Essex has served as assistant administrator at Methodist North Hospital the past four years.

The TruGreen Cos. has joined the Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program, an Environmental Protection Agency-maintained group, to reduce the amount of pesticides entering the environment.

TruGreen will focus its efforts on residential and commercial properties, public spaces and golf courses.
