1. Reconfigured Interchange To Improve Traffic Flow -

Phase II of substantial improvements are about to begin on the Interstate 40/240 interchange in East Memphis that will address the expected traffic increase in this area for decades to come. The average daily traffic (ADT) on I-40 has grown from 49,000 vehicles in 1985 to about 200,000 vehicles a day in 2013. By 2035, projections show the interchange could be handling well over 350,000 vehicles.

4. Methodist Selects OB Hospital Build Team -

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare has announced it has selected the design and construction team to build its new $137 million hospital in Olive Branch, and that the team is expected to break ground on the project Oct. 19.

5. Methodist Breaks Ground Next Month on Olive Branch Hospital -

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare Wednesday announced that it will break ground on its new Olive Branch, Miss. hospital at the southeast corner of U.S Highway 78 and Bethel Road on Wednesday, October 19 at 3:00 p.m.

6. SSR Ellers Named Employer of Year -

SSR Ellers, the Memphis office of Smith Seckman Reid Inc., has received the Employer of the Year award from the statewide chapter of the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers.

The TSPE selects the Employer of the Year based on employment policies that work to advance the engineering profession. The engineering, design and facility consulting firm was chosen for its use of education and fundraising events to boost employee morale and its demonstrated support of employee participation within various professional engineering societies.

Justin Avent has joined Smith Seckman Reid Inc. as a civil engineer for its environmental group.

8. Jones Ascends to High-Level Position At Army Corps of Engineers -

Carol Winfield Jones has been selected as chief, project development branch and assistant to the deputy district engineer for project management for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District.

9. York Elected President Of Memphis Tri-State Fence Association -

Bill York, vice president of sales and marketing for Dillard Door and Entrance Central, has been elected president of the Memphis Tri-State Fence Association, a chapter of the American Fence Association (AFA).

10. Prestidge Chosen to Head Kroger Delta Division -

Mark Prestidge has been promoted to president of The Kroger Co.'s Delta Division. The Delta Division is based in Memphis and includes 111 Kroger stores in Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. Prestidge succeeds Richard Tillman, who recently announced his retirement after a 42-year career with Kroger. Prestidge previously served as vice president of operations for Kroger's Southwest Division.
