NEW YORK (AP) – Some Burger King customers are finding it hard to swallow that the home of the Whopper could move to Canada.
Investors seemed to welcome the announcement by Burger King late Sunday that it was in talks to buy Canadian coffee-and-doughnut chain Tim Hortons and create the world's third-largest fast-food restaurant company. The news pushed shares of both companies up more than 20 percent.

Most sources agree that the Cuban sandwich, or the Cubano, came to Florida in the 1860s with Cuban cigar makers who settled in Key West and later, in the 1880s, in Ybor City, a neighborhood of Tampa noted for its cigar factories. The sandwich received a boost in Miami from the influx of Cuban exiles and expatriates who fled their island home after the success of Castro’s revolution in 1959.

Occasionally I try a wine and think, “This is a great little bistro wine.” By which I mean a basic, simple wine of direct appeal that would go well with typical basic, appealing food in the French bistro style. What sort of fare is that? Think of onion soup, duck and rabbit terrine, boeuf bourguignon, coq au vin, roasted chicken, steak frites, veal blanquette, pork rillettes. Wow, as I write those words it’s a dreary, drippy icky day in a series of dreary, drippy icky days, and that kind of food sounds pretty comforting, soul-satisfying and nap-inducing!

It’s likely a clue that a prospect wants me to slow down, provide more information, or make them feel more confident about purchasing. The beauty of an objection is it means the prospect is engaged.

COVINGTON, Tenn. (AP) – Twenty-five vessels were backed up on the Mississippi River at midday, 13 hours after a chemical spill closed a stretch north of Memphis.
A barge collision at about 9 p.m. Monday spilled the chemical acrylonitrile. Three tugboat workers were hospitalized as a precaution and the river was closed at 10:22 p.m.

The two partners recently purchased and opened a Hungry Howie's Pizza franchise in Southaven. They have plans to open a second Memphis-area store in January in Bartlett. The Southaven location is the first franchise of the Michigan-based business to open in the Memphis area.
