The former U.S. attorney is investigating how the backlog came to be. Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said Tuesday, Sept. 3, the new evidence storage room would be built at the current police impound lot at the old International Harvester plant in Frayser.

An entity called 7399 US Highway 64 Holdings LLC – which is affiliated with Miami Beach, Fla.-based loan servicer LNR Partners LLC – bought the property in a July 15 substitute trustee’s deed from Stewart G. Austin Jr. and R. Mathew Brinner of Glankler Brown PLLC.

Memphis City Council members approved Tuesday, Feb. 19, plans for a tourism development zone to capture sales tax revenue in a large area for a renovation of the Fairgrounds property at first.

The boundaries of the zone go to the state for approval and city Community and Housing Development division director Robert Lipscomb said such a proposal could be at the state building commission in Nashville in April.
