Affiliates of New York-based Hyde Capital LLC have paid a combined $17.3 million for the Briar Club Apartments at 6339 Village Grove Drive in East Memphis and the Cinnamon Trails apartment complex at 6497 Knight Arnold Road in Hickory Hill.

4. Shopping Center Group Moving to New Office -

The Shopping Center Group LLC is moving to a new office.

The Memphis office of the Atlanta-based retail real estate brokerage firm, which leases a total of approximately 4 million square feet of retail space and represents 100 retailers, is moving from 773 E. Brookhaven Circle to 5101 Wheelis Drive, Suite 106, at Clark Centre.

9. South Main’s New Life -

The history of the South Main Historic Arts District is as colorful as its present-day users, an alternating rhythm of sorts in Memphis’ songbook.

The area has oscillated from its ritzy suburban roots of the 1800s to the industrial era ghost town of the 20th century and now to its current status as Downtown’s flourishing arts and boutique district and the subject of some $100 million in investment. And it’s all due to stakeholders who braved the status quo in distinguishing the southern end of the Central Business District as that funky place with an indescribable vibe.

The 324-unit Autumnwood Apartments, situated at the southwest corner of Kirby Parkway and Mount Moriah Road Extended, has sold for $13.5 million to an entity named Autumnwood Investments LLC.

With its nonprofit status official and pledged grants beginning to come in, the Overton Park Conservancy is seeking a permanent executive director.

The conservancy that operates and maintains the park under contract with the city of Memphis is forming a search committee to fill the leadership position.

A $500,000 grant to the Overton Park Conservancy from the Hyde Family Foundations is the latest contribution to the nonprofit group that manages and maintains the Midtown park for the city of Memphis.

The Tennessee Higher Education Commission on Thursday, July 28, approved the acquisition of Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn., by the state of Tennessee.

The approval in Nashville sets up a Friday vote by the Tennessee Board of Regents on transferring Lambuth specifically to the University of Memphis.

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has a warning about his developing set of regional economic development strategies.

“The days where government was able to be seen as somebody who was always giving something are gone, quite frankly,” Haslam told a group of 40 business and civic leaders at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. “They’re gone for at least the foreseeable future.”

Farmers usually wait until spring to start digging, but on Saturday the Memphis Farmers Market broke ground on an expansion that will mean more local produce in the coming year.

Organizers of the market said that a new canopy structure added to the Central Station property will add badly needed shelter and a sense of permanence.

Memphis-based GTx Inc. will issue more stock in a bid to shore up its operating reserves.

The biopharmaceutical company needs more money to finance clinical trials and have working capital, according to a filing it made this week with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

A new investment management and consulting firm is preparing to set up shop Downtown after considering spaces in Midtown and in East Memphis’ Ridgeway Center.

Trestle Capital Partners, which will specialize in marketing hedge fund investments to high net-worth investors, has signed a letter of intent to enter into a five-year lease for 890 square feet of commercial space in The Washburn, a mixed-use building at 60 S. Main St.
