2. Cox Acquires WHBQ Building, Transmitter -

The FOX-13 WHBQ television station property on Highland Street has sold for $2.6 million.

Fox Television Stations Inc. sold the 25,923-square-foot building at 483 S. Highland St. to KTVU LLC, which is affiliated with Cox Media Group, according to an Oct. 8 warranty deed. The Shelby County Assessor of Property’s 2014 appraisal is $1.2 million.

3. Cox Media Acquires WHBQ Transmitter Site -

The FOX-13 WHBQ radio and television transmitter site has been sold for $1.1 million.

Fox Television Stations Inc. sold the 3,200-square-foot building built in 1954 and 27.5 acres of land to KTVU LLC, which is affiliated with Cox Media Group, according to an Oct. 8 warranty deed. The Shelby County Assessor of Property’s 2014 appraisal is $231,200.

4. Shelby County CRE Sales Up 14 Percent in February -

Shelby County recorded 49 commercial real estate sales in February, according to real estate information company Chandler Reports, www.chandlerreports.com.

The Krystal Co. has sold three Shelby County Krystal fast-food properties for about $3.1 million in a sale-leaseback deal, part of a $14.2 million investment by Raleigh, N.C.-based Triangle Capital Corp. An entity named CFKRY LLC bought the Krystal at 2663 Mt. Moriah Road for $1.2 million, the one at 4395 Elvis Presley Blvd. for $1.1 million and the one at 4431 Summer Ave. for $849,563.

The new owner of the auto body shop at 5475 Fox Plaza Drive in Hickory Hill North has filed a $2.3 million loan on the property. J & J Venture Partners LLC, which bought the building in April, filed the loan Oct. 8 through PNC Bank NA.

With the purchase of two Parkway Village shopping centers, a Texas investor has moved closer to his goal of owning a million square feet of commercial real estate in Memphis.

Parkway Fox LP, a limited partnership headed by Houston-based businessman Dr. Hardam Azad, bought the Parkway Village Center strip malls – plus a handful of outparcels – for $9.1 million from the Margaret Y. Henrich Estate. The sales closed late last week.

In the coming months and years, more Memphians will be able to forgo traffic-clogged thoroughfares for peaceful rambles along what eventually will be a 22-mile, countywide network of walking trails.

At a press conference in August, it was easy to overlook what Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton had to say about the city's 5,387 acres of parkland.

The crowd that day at City Hall had come for a different reason. They wanted to hear what Herenton thought should happen to three Downtown parks with ties to Confederate history. His answer to that controversy - which got much local coverage and even some national attention - overshadowed what he said could be done with some of the other 187 city-owned parks.

The latest development in the long-running debate over Shelby Farms centers around a number that Shelby County Mayor A C Wharton Jr. mentioned this week.

Wharton said it could cost as much as $500,000 to draw up a master plan for Shelby Farms' bucolic, 4,500 acres of parkland. He offered up the figure on Monday to yet another committee that's studying the park, which has been examined off and on over the last several decades by various panels, most of them with lofty goals for the park's future.
