“We were told to leave our home,” Michael Doyle, president of the fair, told Memphis City Council members of the fair’s departure as Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton made fifth-term plans for a renovation of the Mid-South Fairgrounds that originally included a new Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

The Stonebridge Golf Club at 3049 Davies Plantation Road between U.S. 64 and Interstate 40 in Lakeland has sold for $1.5 million.

7. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis Names Byrd Executive Director -

Caron Byrd has been hired as executive director of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis. Previously, Byrd served as deputy manager of the Mid-South chapter of the American Red Cross, where she was employed for more than 11 years.

8. 'Everyone's Fair' Debuts Friday at Agricenter -

As the setup goes into full swing with canopies and temporary stage floors being built for Friday's opening of the Delta Fair and Music Festival, motor homes, livestock trailers and amusement rides are parked at Agricenter International, 7777 Walnut Grove Road.
